Falmouth Track Club is again organizing and hosting the 3rd Annual Cape Cod Invitational Cup (CCIC) Club Relay Challenge to take place during the 2015 Cape Cod Marathon/Relay in Falmouth on Sunday, October 25, 2015.

Other Clubs who participated in last year’s competition included Cape Cod Athletic Club (Hyannis, MA), Greater Boston Track Club (Boston, MA), Wampanoag Road Runners, Colonial Road Runners and Thirsty Irish Runners (Dedham, MA) .

The competition rules are as follows. Note several rule changes from previous years based on feedback from participating Clubs:

Each Club nominates two or three relay teams of 2-5 runners, no more than one team from each of the following three categories:-

Men’s Open
Women’s Open
Mixed Open (at least 1 woman runner)

The two or three teams registered must be from different categories above.

Each team’s score will be determined by their overall placing in their category in the Relay (ie Men’s Open, Women’s Open and Mixed Open), and the Club with the lowest total score from their best two teams wins the Cup (ie cross country scoring). If a Club fields three teams, then the two lowest scores will be used. For example, if say a Club’s Men’s team places 2nd in the Men’s category, and the Women’s team places 1st in the Women’s category, and the Mixed team places 5th in the Mixed category, then the Club’s competition score would be 2+1 = 3. If a Club has only one team finish, then they are not eligible to win the Cup.

The Cape Cod Invitational Cup Trophy will be presented to the winning Club at an awards ceremony following the end of the Cape Cod Marathon/Relay on October 25.
