FAQ’s

When do the events fill?

Most events fill in the late fall, register by the second week of September to ensure your name/team name is printed on your race bib.  The only guarantee that you get in, is to register early.

Are our races sanctioned and insured?

Yes, our races are insured and sanctioned by USATF.

Is the Cape Cod Marathon a qualifying race for the Boston Marathon?

Yes, we are a Boston Marathon Qualifier, however, entrance into the Boston Marathon is entirely different process handled by the Boston Athletic Association. We simply provide the “official time” in which you finished your Cape Cod Marathon.

Do we allow walkers on the courses?

We will happily accept walkers that are trained to finish in the three hour time limit for the half marathon.  We offer an early start for the marathon at 6:30 am for walkers/slow runners that are concerned about finishing within the time limit.  Walkers/Slow runners will be on their own (no volunteers, water and medical on course) until the race catches up around mile 16.  For both races we do release our volunteers, support and aid stations once the time limits have been reached. If for any reason, you are not able finish within the time limit, please alert a volunteer at the nearest aid station for a runner support vehicle.

Are baby joggers/strollers/pushed wheelchairs/bikers allowed on the courses?

Because this provides a hazard to our runners on an open course, baby joggers, strollers and pushed wheelchairs are not allowed. The roads are open to vehicular traffic and therefore these wheeled items are a safety hazard.

Do we allow headphones?

Although there is not a ban on headphones/ear buds, we highly recommend not wearing them.  The course is open to regular vehicular traffic and the roads are very narrow. To be fair to the other runners around you, it is important that you can hear oncoming traffic, runners and and signals that are given to runners to keep everyone safe.

Do you have an elite runner program?

Because we are a small race with a limited budget, we do not have an elite athlete’s program and we are not in a position to be able to offer any assistance in traveling to or from the race or with accommodations. If you wish to register for the race , pay the entry fee and make your own arrangements to come to Falmouth, we would welcome your participation.
