“I hate to run,” insists the Dave Jones, a 41-year-old man from Hanson, Ky. He sounds as if no one among the hundreds of people intending to run the 40th Cape Cod Marathon on Oct. 29 could possibly despise running as much as he does.

So what makes Dave Jones the celebrity runner for this year’s 26.2-mile run around Falmouth?

Because he has run marathons and considerably longer ultra events many times during the five years since he kicked a 25-year, two-pack-a-day smoking habit, dropped 90 pounds, and started persuading everyone who will listen to his Eternal Endurance motivational talks that if he can turn his life around, so can they.

Falmouth Track Club is again organizing and hosting the 3rd Annual Cape Cod Invitational Cup (CCIC) Club Relay Challenge to take place during the 2015 Cape Cod Marathon/Relay in Falmouth on Sunday, October 25, 2015. Marathon Relay Director’s Heart Remains in the Race

By Bob Haskell Russ Pelletier still has the heart of a runner even though spinal surgery took his feet out of the race nine years ago.
