Thank you for volunteering for the 2011 Cape Cod Marathon, Staples Marathon Relay and Cape Cod Marathon Half Relay. Please review the various assignments below and check the ones that interest you.

Once assignments are made, you will be contacted. As a Volunteer, you will receive an "Official" Volunteer Jacket, free post-race pasta dinner and an invitation to the Post-Race Party. Thanks again for your help.

Pre-Race Weekend:

	Whatever Is Needed
	Runner Data Input	Enter pre-entered runners and relay teams into computer. Three Months before race – times arranged
	Goodie Bag Stuffing	Help put together runners’ race packets week before race. Week before the race
	Road Painting Squad	(1) Assist with traffic control related to painting mile markers, directional arrows, and start and finish lines prior to the race, and (2) Learn by doing the art of proper road painting -- a skill possesed by a few and desired by many. 3-4 hour shifts on several warm dry days in month prior to race. Also one Sunday Morning at 6:30 am

Saturday, October 29th: Half Marathon

	Half Marathon: Whatever Is Needed
	START/FINISH:
	Half Marathon Start & Finish Area Set Up and Tear Down	Help set-up or tear down the start on Main Street and the finish area in Town Hall Square Saturday: 6:00 am to 12:00 pm
	Half Marathon Start/Finish Area Monitor	Help with crowd control, parking control, especially in Town Hall Square, and traffic control Saturday morning, multiple shifts, times vary
	Half Marathon Space Blankets & Medals	Hand out space blankets & medals to half marathon finishers Saturday: 8:30 am to 11:30 am, Town Hall Square
	Course:
	Half Marathon Course Signage	Help to put out and take down course marking signs (mile markers, directional signs, detour signs, warning signs, etc.) Saturday morning - 6:00 am to 11:30 am.
	Half Marathon Course Clocks	Help to put out and take down digital course clocks (1 mile, 5 miles, 10 Miles) Saturday - 6:30 am to 11:00 am. NOTE: The same crew will also set out and take down course clocks for the marathon on Sunday (see below)
	Half Marathon Course Monitors	Help control traffic and spectators, make sure runners stay on course Saturday, 7:15 am - 11:30 am
	Half Marathon Tired Runner Van Driver (2)	Drive vans on course during race to pick up the walking wounded. If you have your own van, that is a plus, but vans may be donated Saturday; 2 shifts – 7:15 am – 11:30 am +/-
	Half Marathon Lead Police Cruiser Liaison	Ride in lead cruiser to make sure cruiser stays on course Saturday – 7:15 am – 8:45 am
	Half Marathon Lead Vehicle Driver	Must have pick-up truck. This truck becomes press truck Saturday – 7:15 – 8:45 am
	Half Marathon Water/Aid Station	Work at one of 5 water stations (3 on course and 1 at Start and 1 at Finish) handing water and carbohydrate drink to runners. Saturday, times vary.

Saturday, October 29th: Lawrence School

	Whatever Is Needed
	EXPO:
	Set Up Lawrence School	Set up Expo, including banners, tables, bulletin boards, etc. Friday evening and Saturday am
	Expo Assistant	Work will involve keeping traffic moving in and out of the Lawrence School Gym, helping exhibitors, greeting and directing people to where they need to go. Saturday & Limited Sunday shifts
	Expo Sales	Selling shirts, posters, etc. Must be outgoing/enjoy retail and people. Saturday & Sunday Shifts, Lawrence School
	Information Booth Attendant	Answer runner’s questions. Need to be familiar with race and the Falmouth area. Saturday and Race day shifts, Lawrence School
	Tear Down Lawrence School	Tear down Expo and sales area, pack in truck and help unload. Race day 1:30 pm
	REGISTRATION:

	Results Compilers	Compile and verify results for individuals and relay teams, assemble manual set of results, post results, provide information to publicity director.
	Awards Crew	Help to organize and assemble awards and assist in handing out at Awards Ceremony Week before race and race day
	Chute Marshalls	Assist runners after they cross finish line and maintain the flow of finishers through the chutes. Race day. Village Green
	Results Runners	Run results information from finish line to Lawrence School (usually High School Students) Race day – 10:30 am – 2:30 pm shifts
	COURSE:
	Course Signage	Help to put out and/or take down course marking signs (mile & KM markers, directional signs, detour signs, warning signs, etc.) One week before the race and Race Day – 6:00 am to 2:30 pm, depending on job assignment
	Course Clocks	Help to put out and take down digital course clocks (1 mile, 5 miles, 10 Miles, 13.1 miles, 15 miles, 20 miles and 25 miles) Race Day - 8:00 am to 2:30 pm. NOTE: The same crew will also set out and take down course clocks for the half marathon (see above)
	Amateur Radio Operations	Licensed amateur radio operators, to assist in race course and race committee communications Race day, times vary
	Course Checkers	Work with race committee member to record runners at 3 unannounced checkpoints. We do this to meet USA Track & Field Regulations Race day, Times vary
	Course Monitors	Help control traffic and spectators, make sure runners stay on course Race Day, times vary
	Bicycle Patrol (Mad About Cycling)	Act a roving course monitor, follow lead runner, lead relay team, and first woman as an escort. Also trail last runner Race Day 7:30 am to 2:30 pm
	Porta John Logistics	Work with porta john company placing units on course and at relay stations in co-ordination with finish line director Race day – 6:00 am to 8:30 am

	Relay Exchange Monitor	Help with separating relay runners from marathoners, traffic control, parking, & crowd control. 4 Exchange areas (Falmouth Heights, Near Tony Andrews Farm, W. Falmouth Post Office, School St. in Woods Hole) Race day, times vary
	Relay Shuttle Bus Supervision	Person to insure orderly loading of shuttle busses to and from (1) Relay Exchange #3 and Relay Parking area at intersection of Brick Kiln Road and Gifford Street and (2) Relay Exchange #4 and WHOI Quissett Campus. Race Day – 8:00 am to 12:30 pm
	Relay Shuttle Bus Driver	Person to drive 15 passenger shuttle bus van to and from (1) Relay Exchange #3 and Relay Parking area at intersection of Brick Kiln Road and Gifford Street and (2) Relay Exchange #4 and WHOI Quissett Campus. Race Day – 8:00 am to 12:30 pm
	Flagman	Direct alternate one way traffic through WHOI campus in Woods Hole to & from relay shuttle bus loading/unloading area. Race day – 9:30 am – 12:30 am
	RUNNER AMENITIES:
	Medical Aid	Must have credentials (ex. RN, EMS, Dr., PT., DO), man medical areas at finish and Lawrence School Race day, times vary.
	Massage Crew	Give massages to runners after the race Race day, Gym at Lawrence School
	Post-Race Meal	Help set up, serve food to very hungry runners and volunteers, and clean-up Sunday, Lawrence School (shifts vary)
	MISCELLANEOUS:
	Lead Vehicle Color Commentator	Must be knowledgeable about runners. Act as resource for press and radio during race Race day – 8:00 am – 11:00 am
	Race Photography	Take candid photos before, during, and after event Friday, Saturday, and race day (film and developing provided by CCM)
