Basic Rules

  • The field will be limited to the first 50 Clam Chowdah Challengers who enter. Runners entering both races should be adequately trained to complete the half course in three (3) hours and the full course in six (6) hours or a 13:43 per mile pace. The Cape Cod SWEEPER van is the official vehicle on the course, responsible for maintaining a 13:43 per minute mile, to ensure runners stay ahead of the race cutoff times. (based on last runner crossing the starting line) This vehicle warrants that runners who fall behind this pace shall officially be recorded as not finishing. For the SAFETY of runners, they will be offered a ride to the finish area.  Any runner that opts out of a ride is considered a pedestrian and is responsible for their own SAFETY. On Saturday, after 11:00 am, the course will be closed. The Timing Clock will be dismantled and you will not be guaranteed an official result. Race Management cannot guarantee race medals, finish times and refreshments to runners who finish after that time.  On Sunday, after 2:00 pm, the course will be closed. The Timing Clock will be dismantled and you will not be guaranteed an official result.  Race Management cannot guarantee race medals, finish times and refreshments to runners who finish after that time. If you can’t finish either race within the time limit please move to a sidewalk and assume responsibility for your own safety.
  • Clam Chowdah Challenge entrants must be 16 years of age or older on race day. (You will receive two bib numbers).
  • Strollers and dogs are NOT allowed on course.
  • The Cape Cod Marathon Weekend does not allow, support or encourage the buying, selling or trading of bib numbers for any of our races, for any reason, nor do we allow running a different event without an official transfer to that event. Running with someone else’s name & information or running an event you are not registered for causes chaos and can be potentially dangerous in the event of a medical emergency. Not to mention, we account for all supplies to support our registered runners and ‘bandits’ deplete from those supplies.
